Sue Smith - Learning Support Assistant Rainbow I
Sue Smith is a qualfied teaching assistant (TA) who has been with Rainbow I since its inception in September 2005. Before this she worked as a nursery assistant and as Learning Support Assistant (LSA) and classroom assistant in a mainstream class. Having a child who attends the John Adkins Centre for borderline moderate learning difficulties at ERS, Sue has always been interested in speech, language and learning difficulties. | ![]() |
Sue has attended various courses on children with specital educational
needs, including a six week course at Westfield Training School for
children with specific learning difficulties. Eager to increase her
knowledge base futher, she recently studied for Higher Level Teaching
Assistan Status (HLTA) as an extension course to her NVQ3 and
successfully compteated this in September 2008. This higher level
teaching assistant qualification covered all areas of children's
learning with particular emphasis on helping children with socil
interactionand communication difficulties and learning difficulties.
Sue is also a competent Makaton user and attended evening classes for
over a year to obtain her Level 1 Certificat n British Sigh Language.
