Our Team

We, the staff of Egerton Rothesay Rainbow Centre, wish to welcome you to our website, be you a parent who is concerned about your child, or a professional seeking information about the type of provision we can offer. We have attempted here to answer the kind of questions that are often asked of us so that you can gain as clear an idea as possible of what we can offer your child, how we function, and what we hope to achieve. However, please don’t hesitate to contact us if there is more you want to know - usually a member of the team will be available around 3.30 pm to take a telephone call.
The Centre consists of two separate units; an infant class called Rainbow I for 4 to 6 year olds and a junior class called Rainbow II for children aged 7 to 9 olds. They offer a nurturing and stimulating environment, which is part of a mainstream school, for children with a severe speech, language or communication impairment such as an expressive and/or receptive language delay or disorder, verbal dyspraxia, dysarthria, a phonological disorder or a social communication difficulty such as that associated with Asperger’s Syndrome.
While most pupils have a statement of special educational needs and may receive some funding from their LEA, a statement is not a requirement as we accept children on the basis of their individual needs and our ability to meet them.
Children attend these classes from a range of counties including Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Barnet. Transport facilities are available for the older children and cover areas including, Pinner, Northwood, Watford, Rickmansworth, Amersham, Chesham, Tring, Aylesbury, Princes Risborough, Barnet, Redbourn, Radlett, St. Albans, Stanmore, Bushey, the Chalfonts and many more. Please check the Transport page on the Egerton Rothesay website to see what areas our school bus serves.
With a high staff to pupil ratio, and entry restricted to a maximum of 10 children per class, we are able to build on the strengths of each child while providing specialist input to meet their individual needs within a very caring environment.
We look forward to hearing from you.
